A Bit About Me

As a child who grew up in the foster care system, I can truly say that those experiences significantly shaped my writing. The cast of characters in my novels are regular, hardworking folks living paycheck to paycheck with blended families, trying their best to make ends meet. Despite that, they’re the first to step in and help a neighbor in need.

I’ve written for fifteen years under the pen name, Tessa Gray, but ever since publishing my very personal memoir, Take Three, I’ve switched over to writing cozy mysteries under my real name Gay Ann Kiser.

Music is my passion, probably because during my troubled childhood, music was my salvation. I’m a retired teacher, mother of two grown children, and Meema to six wonderful grandkids. My husband of fifty years, Jim, and I live at The Kiser Ranch with two miniature donkeys, a precocious goat named Ginger, as well as our rescue dog, Bella.
