Cowgirl Trips, Cohorts & Cozies

Jim and I affectionately call our 3 acres of land here in Fairview ‘The Kiser Ranch.’ I took this picture one morning as the sun came over the horizon. You would be hard pressed to get a more picturesque view from a bedroom window. It reminds me a little of when several of us took a road trip to Alpine, Texas in 2013 to attend a Cowboy Poetry Gathering there. There were just three of us gals, back then: Marianne Hunt, Nancy Redd and yours truly. Here are some of the sights we enjoyed:

That road trip was the shot in the arm I needed to begin a three-book series featuring three fictional characters who took a road trip to Alpine to meet the poets. All three women in the storyline travel from Dallas to partake in this event, and all three return home, only to discover they missed the laidback, quiet life in west Texas. A small publisher picked up this series, so I was very excited about that.

Years later, we attended the event again and three more ladies joined us: Kristina Stacey, Tanis Roelofs, and Marcia Fallis. We had a blast and were enthralled with all the cowboy and cowgirl poets. As luck would have it, my publisher went out of business but gave me the right back to my books. I now have them in hand, but like any author worth her salt, I’m not 100% satisfied with the content of the three books, so I’m rewriting them. Sometimes revising a project gives you purpose, so I’m pleased about getting those three books back in print. I hope to self-publish all three within a year’s time. You will love them; that I will promise. Those characters are near and dear to my heart.

April News

On April 24th at 3:00 PM Central Standard Time, I will be on zoom as a guest to a Facebook group I’m a part of. It’s called: Cozy Mystery Village. If you google it and join (it’s free), you will have the opportunity to receive free books from many authors, as well as the joy of discovering writers whose work you are not yet familiar with. I would absolutely LOVE for some of you to participate in the zoom activity. I plan to share the zoom link with that group around April 22nd, so be sure and mark your calendars and watch for that if you join that group. I’ll be giving away several books.

May News

I’ve been selected as a panelist for the Literary Fest in McKinney, Texas. Since it’s a ways away, I’ll just ask you (if you are a local) to reserve Saturday, May 30th and head to the McKinney City Hall for this all day event. More will follow, but please mark your calendars for this event, as well. In addition to serving on an author’s panel, I’ll be out there, hob-knobbing with readers and authors and selling my books.

Thanks for taking the time to read these newsletters! I try to keep them brief. I’m thrilled that 65% of you receiving these are opening them up to read. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that!

Have a Wonderful April and Take Care,

Gay Ann
