Grumpy Grandparents
When my daughter, Megan, was pregnant, and I was about to become a grandmother for the sixth time, I remember asking my college students if they enjoyed visiting with their grandparents. Their response surprised me: “I never go to see my grandparents because they watch news all day and complain.” Wow—that was eye-opening, to the point where I was almost sorry I asked the question. Like many of you, I make a point of trying to limit the amount of complaining I do. It was a wake-up call for me as I continue living the life of being a senior citizen.

Here’s a cute picture of two of my grandkids, Olivia and Ryan, trying to make fun of their Meema for posing for a selfie with them. Personally, I think they did a great job depicting some people who are curmudgeons. As some of you are aware, I occasionally write characters like this in my cozy mystery series. You’ll get a real dose of cranky pants Stanley Feldick in book #2 (RHYTHM OF REVENGE) which comes out in the spring of this year.
Generosity Rewarded
Some of you may recognize this lovely couple, Norman and Hazel Bollinger. They are lifelong mentors of mine and Hazel, in particular, was instrumental in shaping me. If you read my memoir, TAKE THREE, you know that she was a very important part of my life. Hazel turned 100 in November and her husband, Norman, will turn 100 in February. God appeared to reward this amazing couple by giving them a long, fulfilling life.

Gambling with Gay
It’s not what you think; I’m not opening a casino or anything, but I’m taking a very big risk around February of 2024. I have begun switching books written under my pen name over to my real name. For one series, this involved quite a bit of rewriting, the expense of four new covers which consist of a box set, as well as the challenge of formatting books for a box set.
These four books are in the genre I used to write: Contemporary Romance. Each book begins with a letter that the father of four daughters writes to each one of his girls when he is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As each daughter’s separate lives unfold, the letter he wrote to each of them serves as a guide while they journey through life. I’m extremely proud of the rewrites I’ve done with these four books. I will do a cover reveal next month and discuss them in more detail. So, what I’m telling you in a roundabout way is that within a few months’ time, I will have four new contemporary romances available.
These contemporary romances I just talked about will probably only be available in the digital form. Many of you order my print books, not the digital (ebook) versions. So, I need to hear from you, my readers. If you generally order my print books, might you consider ordering this 4-book series for your kindles? I'm not looking for a firm commitment here, just your very valued opinions! My expectation is that you will be able to purchase all 4 books for around $10.00, so that's a pretty decent bargain! I would love to hear back from you about whether that would be acceptable for you. I promise that the cozy mystery series will always be available in both print and ebooks.
Thanks for your time. I would love to hear from you, so be sure and post a response from time to time.
Happy 2024 to All of You!
